Funerals

Catholic funerals traditionally consist of three parts: a Vigil (wake service) for remembrance and prayer; a Funeral Mass for commending the deceased to God’s mercy; and a Committal Service at the place of interment.

The Mass of Christian Burial, of which the celebration of the Eucharist is central, celebrates Christ’s death and resurrection, providing comfort and hope to the grieving.

The family of the deceased plans the funeral Mass, usually with the help of a member of our bereavement team.
